Minah Vuyiswa Koela

Minah is married and has four sons. She lives with her family in Cape Town where she serves at UBukho Bakhe Church and Beautiful Gate South Africa as the CEO.

Mentoring women is part of their discipleship and where they see God at work. They face challenges like gender-based violence, poverty, and the superiority of men both culturally and in the church. This often means that women and their giftedness are overlooked. Minah is involved in mentoring three young women from Namibia. They meet at least once a month online and chat in between on WhatsApp. The Tirzah materials are helping them discover and use their gifts.

Minah’s dream is for women to have the ability to lead without feeling like they are second class citizens.

Praise:

  • I give thanks for the ladies who are doing the GET HOPE small-business training programme and the encouraging stories that they shared at their Christmas party. I was able to see real hope in their faces.

  • I praise God for the discipleship of GET HOPE ladies, for the deeply spiritual conversations that have happened. I am grateful for one of our Staff Members who has walked a journey, lives with our staff and beneficiaries, has been discipled at BG and now leads spiritually in the GET HOPE programme.

  • I give thanks for this entrepreneurial programme and how it is so transferable to our context and is meeting a huge need in our community.

Prayer Request:

  • I ask that you continue to pray for our area, the crime has increased and women and children are the most vulnerable.

  • As I look at our whole Empowerment Programme and its structures, pray that we will have a thriving team who all play to their sweet spots and that this programme while new will blossom.

  • I ask that you pray for us as we consider giving loans to those who qualify. Money in our context can become very complicated so we need lots of wisdom. We have chosen the approach of the ladies to be discipled for a whole year, before we introduce the loans.
