Transforming the Next Generation
Dianne Sivulka, Tirzah’s Global Director, recently reflected on a story of transformation from her visit to Kenya where they spent time with a group of women ready to embark on the Emerging Leader Program (ELP). This program looks at Jesus’ example of being a servant leader with the 10-module curriculum being taught through a mentorship model. We have implemented it across dozens of countries, impacting hundreds of women. The eagerness and determination of these Kenyan women to learn and make a difference in their communities was incredibly inspiring.
Kimberly, a current participant of the program, was chosen to share what participating in ELP has meant to her. Her transformation was notable. Having never understood her worth or potential, the Emerging Leader Program is enabling her to recognize her inherent value and her capability to lead and inspire change.
Kimberly shares, “Over the months that we have been under the mentorship, I’ve come to understand myself. It is grounding me as I see people my age being taken by things of the world. When you look at Tirzah’s program, it is telling you that God does not call the equipped, you come and he is going to equip you. You go through the modules starting with “Who Is a Leader” and you get to understand yourself as a person. You get to grow. And that is something I forever am indebted to both Tirzah and my mentor pastor Josephine.”
This sharp young woman is a finance student with dreams of being a financial analyst in a bank. She is currently a student leader, the Secretary General of her university’s economics and finance team. Kimberly confidently states, “I see myself becoming someone who is involved in the transformation of our economy. I see myself giving solutions in leadership and various factors.”
Our Leadership Development Initiative is not just about empowering individual women; it's about equipping them to become change-makers, addressing specific needs in their communities, rising above injustices, and propelling positive change for the future. Mentors are leading others to follow Jesus, providing tangible and holistic care to those in need. Each woman's journey, like Kimberly's, reinforces the impact of our work at Tirzah International and fuels our commitment to continue empowering women worldwide.
As Kimberly wrapped up sharing with the conference attendees, Esme prayed for her, saying “Lord, thank you for the dreams you have put in her life.”
We are so encouraged by the young women who are stepping into their God-given potential as they’re growing into the leaders of tomorrow.
“I see myself becoming someone who is involved in the transformation of our economy. I see myself giving solutions in leadership and various factors.”
