Fadhili Program: Why health insurance?

The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) of Kenya has insurance programs that, for 70 USD annually, allows a woman and up to 4 dependents to access health care for free at many health clinics. How incredible is that?! An HIV+ diagnosis comes with a lot of hospital and clinic visits, new medications (ARVs), and increased health risks. Having easy, free access to health care is a life-saving, life-changing measure that Tirzah is proud to provide for the Fadhili women.

ONE STORY FROM AN NHIF BENEFICIARY, VIA HOMECARE (Tirzah's Kenya Partner)

“ Fadhili members have been unwell because of the delicate balance of immunity that is a struggle with HIV+.

Tallys* had a problem with sinuses causing her to have difficulties breathing.  When she went to the hospital, she was given an appointment to undergo a sinus surgery. Unfortunately, her blood count was low so they had to postpone the appointment. She also lacked the finances needed for the surgery.

With God’s help, Homecare Fellowship (HSF) facilitated her blood transfusion expenses. They did this through the National Hospital insurance Fund (NHIF), which is funded by Tirzah International for all Fadhili members. Subsequently, Tallys went through the surgery in December. She is now recovered and well. We take this opportunity to thank Tirzah International for their support. May God richly bless them! “
