Sharing a Smile in Ethiopia + Kenya
Casandra will have more to write about our experience later, but for now, here's a teaser of two great moments, paraphrased:
During our time in Ethiopia, we visited the kids program on Saturday and then the women on Sunday. We got to be there for two special occasions: on Saturday, the kids received new backpacks for the school year full of necessary supplies for learning. They were so happy! Next, the ladies received a special surprise of warm winter blankets. It was very thoughtful of Ermias and the BCDA team to include us in this. The women happy to have the blankets and carefully selected their favorite patterns and colors as all the blankets were different.
Meeting with our partners in Addis, BEZA Community Development Association.
Meeting with the Fadhili women and our partners at Homecare Kenya.
Friday, when the Fadhili ladies came to the retreat center, was possibly my favorite. We had everyone tell us a special skill they had, without repeating anything said before them. The responses were so fun! We even had a dance-off!
Marc said he could do 100 pushups. The ladies didn’t know what those were so he demonstrated then several of the ladies gave it a shot! There was also singing and dancing to determine who in fact could claim those as their talents! We were laughing and smiling and just enjoying our time together.
